Web Journal!chris's journal entry #107; "Trick XOR Treat" on 2007-11-01:Previous Next So I came up with this ponderance today: shouldn't people be saying "trick XOR treat" (read: "trick exclusive or treat") on Halloween, after all, aren't you really stating that either you will receive a treat, or trick the person but not both? The current and incorrect way of saying "trick or treat" means that the person will give you a treat, be tricked, or both, but you really don't mean to state that both will occur, do you? Another more precise alternative is to say "you shall be tricked if you do not treat me". Return (or click back on your browser.)
