chris's journal entry #108; "Black Friday (2007)" on 2007-11-24:
Previous Next
Well, today is (oops, yesterday was) "Black Friday", and as usual, we went shopping during the wee little hours of the morning to get some bargains. We started out by waiting in line at Best Buy for about 35 minutes before opening (i.e. 4:30-ish), and were about 166th in line. The line really started growing quickly shortly after we arrived (probably to about 450 total people), so I guess it was great timing. They let about 100 people in the store at any given time, so you could pace yourself well if you didn't want any of their "doorbusters", and it wasn't crowded, nor prone for fighting, etc. There I picked up the $6.99 100-pack of recordable DVDs, and a third (returning the other two) PCTV HD Wireless dealie (will "blog" about that one later), and my folks picked up the complete Sex and the City box set for $100, and a few other random videos ("The Office"?), IIRC. Next, we ventured on over to Elder Beerman (the "old drunk people store", as I call it), and didn't really get anything there. I stopped on by Radio Shack next to nextdoor, and didn't really find anything that I wanted, though I would have picked up the $10 wireless mouse if I didn't already have one. Then we stopped by The Home Depot. My dad ran in and picked a drill bit set, and possibly one other thing. After that, we drove over to SEARS (now renamed as Sears), and picked up the $15 rechargeable LED shop light thing, about 3 or 4 movies, as well as their $10 19-count LED flashlight. Then we headed home, and were done by about 7:10, time for a nap!
