There are three great alternative browsers out there, the Mozilla Suite, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera. They are all very advanced, featureful, feature tabbed browsing, pop-up blocking, and anything else you want, are customizable through themes and extensions, and are generally considered as safe, if not safer, than Internet Explorer. Best of all, they are all free (Opera just becoming so), so give them a try (for a week or so), and see which you like better.
