News item #97; "Local News Page Progress" on 07/30/05:
Previous Next
About a week ago, I created a page for local news, which did nothing spectacular. I now actually added some functionality to it, but now it is lacking news...
I've have nearly finished the work on a new page called the "Local News Page." With it, I hope to allow visitors, and myself, to add local news stories, upcoming events, and other similar stuff, kind of like you would find in a local newspaper. I currently have skeletons set up for Kiel, Manitowoc, Sheboygan, and New Holstein. I don't have any kind of admin for this so far, but I would still like to be flooded with news if possible. If you write your own articles, please proofread and edit them as much as you can before submitting them. Also, don't feel afraid of submitting news, the worst that can happen is that I won't post it, although that won't hopefully happen. I would also like some feedback on any other ideas/features you think I should include, such as; should users be able to comment on news articles? Should you be able to directly submit news? What other cities should be covered? Should there be a unified home page with all the news from the various cities mixed together? Is there a different way that the categories should be created, i.e. by county instead of by city? All feedback will be greatly appreciated.
