News item #42; "Working on "It"": Tonight, I worked on "It", a.k.a. the "Quizmatic 8000" for a few hours, mostly desoldering the 4001 IC, soldering an IC socket in place of it, and then inserting a new 4001 into the socket. Unfortunately, this didn't fix the problem at all, but helps narrow the problem down. I suspected a few possible problems (three actually), and will soon begin on "Plan B". It appears that I need to add some kind of amplifier (transistor) before one of the inputs to the 4001, which hopefully will get "It" working again. -Chris Return (or click back on your browser.)
